Burrito Grande

We almost had to change the name of this blog as Mr. Leo decided that he is no longer a fan of the burrito wrap and wiggles his way out of it as fast as he can. I thought that the Leo Burrito was gone forever until I woke up this morning and saw that my wife pulled this one off.

Handprints Not So Easy

We decided that it was high time to record Leo's hand and foot prints before he's wearing a size 8 shoe. As you can see he wasn't too cooperative - when his children ask one day about his left hand print I will gladly tell them the truth, Leo was born with a hoof.

Ralph Lauren baby.

He couldn't be a Pasadena baby without a Ralph Lauren outfit. This outfit was bought for Leo by Colleen (I think Colleen and Megan may own stock in the company...their sons seem to sport RL whenever possible). Thanks for the cute outfit. We love it.

Leo had a playdate!!

While shopping at PB Kids, I met a girl due a couple of weeks before me. We ended up being in childbirth classes together at the hospital. Steph and her husband Mike gave birth to a handsome son, Luke, two and a half weeks before Leo was born. Leo and I headed to our first playdate at their home in La Canada today. We had a great time and it was quite classic. After Luke had an explosive poop out his diaper and up his back, I decided I should change Leo as well. He proceeded to poop and pee all over me! Then 15 minutes later as Leo was testing out Luke's bouncer, he decided to projectile vomit everywhere. Yum. Thank god I was with a mom of another newborn who was so understanding of this stage. Honestly, I don't even flinch anymore when the pee comes shooting out at me or the vomit goes down my shirt. A day in my life...how times have changed!

Moments before the projectile vomiting. How could I see it coming? He looks so sweet!

Leo in his first pair of pants.

We had Leo's 2 week checkup last Friday. He now weighs 8lbs 7oz. He started at 7lbs 8oz. This is great progress. Finally he is starting to fit into his 0-3 month clothes. I couldn't believe how cute he looked in his first pair of pants. Of course I am his mom so I am a little biased!

Who is this guy?!?

I just couldn't resist posting this picture of Leo and Tom.

And a couple more...

Just some of the many funny faces of Leo. Got to love the cross-eyed shot.

The creation of Leo Burrito...

During this pregnancy we have been actively reading and attending classes regarding pregnancy and parenthood. There was always one thing that would come up time and time again - swaddling. Within minutes of meeting our new son, we were getting a lesson in swaddling from our hospital nurse. The hospital and nurses don't mess around when it comes to swaddling - usually using two blankets at a time (sometimes even a warm blanket right out of the dryer).

The act of swaddling is similar to the wrapping of a burrito (or at least this is the association two people from LA who make weekly trips to Mijares made). And this method of wrapping could miraculously change a screaming Leo into a sleeping Leo. It was only natural that our new son adopted the nickname - Leo Burrito.

Leo Christopher has arrived!

After 40 long weeks, 26 hours of labor, 3 unsuccessful epidurals, 2 spinals and 1 c-section we are pleased to announce the arrival of Leo Christopher. Although labor and delivery did not go as smoothly as planned, we did not know we could experience something this amazing. We are absolutely in love and suddenly our family feels so complete. Thanks to everyone for all the thoughts and prayers along the way.

Leo was born on June 26, 2007. He was 7lbs 9oz.
